Housed in the stately Foshay Tower, Café Un Deux Trois has a reputation for its business lunches, but we prefer to go at night, when this airy, charming bistro is charged with romance. We're not sure if it's the lofty ceiling or the glossy faux marble or the snappy white butcher's paper on every table, but something about this space creates magic. French bistro classics such as the steak frites, tarte tatin and the braised lamb shank are flawlessly executed, but lately Café Un Deux Trois has been dazzling diners with its fresh fish. Thanks to chef Vincent Francoual, who was last seen at New York's Le Bernardin, the nightly fish special is a wonder to behold, and even a simple poached salmon in a white wine sauce can achieve miraculous subtlety and depth. We're also fond of the bar, which stretches out under sparkling chandelier. Even if you don't stay for dinner, the bar's quiet charm makes it a great spot to meet for an early-evening drink.
