Restaurateur Gabriela Cámara of Mexico City's Contramar is behind Cala near Hayes Valley. The white-tablecloth Mexican restaurant features concrete walls and floors and a chic, industrial vibe. The focus is on coastal Mexican cuisine and craft cocktails, and there is Mexican brunch on Sundays. Tacos Cala, an alley taqueria, is adjacent to the restaurant and open weekdays for lunch. On Friday and Saturday nights, Tacos Cala becomes Tapas Cala, serving casual tapas for dinner until 11 p.m.
