At first glance, CalTerra looks like a mashup of short-order and strip-mall dining, but don’t judge the menu by its cover. Admittedly, you’ll find better flatbreads elsewhere, but dishes like the rich lasagna bolognaise and the generous cioppino could stand on their own against a lot of big city restaurants. Even the club sandwich sports touches like soppressata and provolone on house-made ciabatta. The in-house pastry chef also makes tempting desserts such as a crème brûlée trio and seasonal fruit tarts. Craft bottled beer is available, and the small wine list celebrates local labels. Though the schedule is random, there’s often an eclectic lineup of live music throughout the week.
