THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Cardwell's in Clayton Restaurant Review:
From the pork chops with cranberry-port reduction to the chicken wings with chili-garlic glaze and cucumber dipping sauce, there's a notable harmony to the combinations at this Clayton establishment. For a first course, the crab cakes with jícama slaw are made of lump crab meat, not breadcrumbs; the mussels in garlic-saffron broth are notable, too. Service can be erratic some evenings, but you'll eat very well and enjoy perhaps the best crème brûlée in town in a different flavor each day. The noisy bar open to the street and equally loud, tile-floored front room draw the see-and-be-seen folks; the slightly plusher inside dining room is most popular with business and advertising types and lawyers, looking for something to accompany a business deal (as in a strong wine list).
