THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Casa La Femme Restaurant Review:
This romantic fantasy of a casbah is definitely theater-as-restaurant as opposed to restaurant-as-theater, with tented tables and, on Monday nights, belly dancers and tarot-card readers. It attracts black-lycra-clad hipsters until the wee hours, and theyre not here for the food. Though, in fact, the food is surprisingly good---lots of eat-with-your-fingers and scoop-up-with-pita-bread appetizers, such as hummus and baba ghanouj. For $55, you can recline on pillows and indulge in a five-course Egyptian feast featuring such entrées as sugar-cane-marinated roasted squab, tahini-and-onion-crusted red snapper, or mint-roasted baby lamb shoulder with savory Egyptian bread pudding, topped off with a cup of strong, thick Turkish coffee.
