Located in an obscure strip mall, Charlie’s may not attract huge crowds, but those who don’t show up miss out on true wood-smoked meats. The large, open-hearth, wood-fueled pit stands at the front of the place. The menu’s not much to talk about, unless you like ribs and plenty of them, although Charlie’s does smoke chunks of beef and whole chickens for use in its barbecue sandwiches and platters. You’ll also find assorted sandwiches, soups and salads, but most people come for the large slabs of meaty ribs with barbecue beans, baked potato and greens.
