THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Chez Aunty Libe Restaurant Review:

DC offers almost every type of cuisine under the sun, and Senegalese is among them. Way, way uptown on Georgia Avenue, seek out Chez Aunty Libe, a family-style restaurant run by a lively Libe and her two daughters. It’s so casual that you’d think you had found a seat at your granny’s dining table, except for those pictures of Senegal on the walls. If you know nothing about the cuisine, just ask Libe herself, who is part cook and part waitress. The food is rich and filling, and you may find that one entrée is ample for two people. Don’t skip the meat pies to start, and be sure to have a glass or two of the fresh and sparkling beverage made from fresh ginger root. Try the thiebou yapp, or lamb with rice and stewed vegetables in a gravy; cassava leaf stew is another option. You may or may not find a dessert.
