French-Canadian Mimi Hébert draws a loyal clientele through the beautiful iron gate of her enchanted restaurant. Divided into three patios---even one for smokers---and three homey dining rooms, all showcasing fireplaces, you’ll feel as if you’ve stepped into a Provençal country inn. You’ll definitely appreciate the chef’s home-style French cuisine, which is simple, comforting and thoroughly enjoyable. The refreshing chilled cucumber soup and vichyssoise are ideal hors d’oeuvres on a warm evening, while a country pâté or French onion soup are fine for winter nights. Move on to steak au poivre, salmon in Champagne sauce, bouillabaisse, cassoulet or the lighter leg of lamb with herbes de Provence. A good way to finish: the tarte Tatin and vanilla ice cream. Brunch on the patio, with quiche or a croque monsieur, is a lovely way to spend a Sunday morning.
