Chouquet's Restaurant Restaurant Review

: By day, this casual-yet-sleek Euro bistro is filled with light from big pane windows, and its outdoor seating draws a number of diners happy to have lunch alfresco. In the evening, the lights dim and candlelight dances off the cozy rows of couples seated in cool modern chairs over contemporary wooden tables. The cuisine is hearty and straightforward, primarily French by way of California. Appetizers are appealing, and a standout is a cool and creamy tower built with chunks of Dungeness crab, celery and avocado with a frilly hat of frisée. Many entrées lean towards lighter fare, such as steamed salmon or an herb-stuffed chicken breast, while others such as duck breast feature sauces more sweet than nuanced. An unexpected plus is the beer and wine list composed of smaller-quantity and lesser-known labels --- fifteen wines are served by the glass. Desserts include a groovy floating island, with its small sea of thin custard sauce, fun and flirtatious.
