There are neighborhood restaurants and then there are restaurants that make the neighborhood. Such is the case with Claremont Café. Pumpkin-colored walls are decorated with the eye of a bohemian craftsman. By day, locals stop in for grilled panini, omelets and other casual fare. By night, Mom-and-Pop place meets international bistro as the crowds keep this gem buzzing until well past closing. The menu is especially well-made for grazing, with a range of tapas like yucca fritters, stuffed calamari and lamb empanadas. Entrées are equally eclectic---roast cod Livornese here, pollo con arroz there. And the attached Lush Lounge throws its own funky bar menu into the mix.
