THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Coffee Cottage Restaurant Review:
The Coffee Cottage's many city-dwelling fans consider a 15- or 20-minute drive there a minor inconvenience when the prize is some of the best pastry in the area. Owner-chef John Caluda's handiwork ranges from a chocolate-raspberry truffle to a tiramisu that breathes new life into a cliché dessert to the focaccia crust on the pizzas and sandwiches. His signature item is a cheese-rich crawfish strudel. Leading the salad roster is the Caesar with optional chicken. The king of the sweets section of the display case (filled with a score or more of layer cakes, cookies and other goodies) may be Caluda's egg-rich bread pudding, studded with bits of white chocolate. All of the items are grand accompaniments to the Coffee Cottage's large selection of fine coffees and teas.
