THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED CommonWealth, The People's Gastropub Restaurant Review:

When chef-owner Jamie Leeds puts her mind to it, she creates restaurants that become “must” destinations, and that’s the case with her venture in Columbia Heights. Who would have ever thought that an ale-happy British-style pub would present food that puts the lie to stodgy British meals? For example, the fish ‘n’ chips come to the table piping hot, a mound of batter-wrapped fish nuggets that literally melt in the mouth. Fries, though a bit greasy, make a compelling reason to skip diets and eat well. Since the food is British-inspired but based on farm-fresh American ingredients, you can’t go wrong, whether you opt for a side of Yorkshire pudding or bubble and squeak or a steak-and-oyster pie, bangers and mash, or a butcher’s plate with your choice of cold meats and cheese. In the British tradition, end your meal with the ultra-rich sticky toffee pudding, and wash everything down with at least one of the pub’s imported British ales, porters or stouts. Note that CommonWealth has its own pub hours, all day long into the wee hours of the next day.
