THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Compass World Bistro Restaurant Review:

The name says it all: Compass World Bistro draws its food from the world. If you come here in warm weather, you’ll be installed in one of the prettiest gardens anywhere. In the rain, however, the café, while pleasant enough, is fairly rudimentary. The chef is an explorer of gastronomy whose curiosity is boundless; you can never guess what will show up: Africa, Basque, the Caribbean and southern Italy have all had their turns. The menu changes monthly, but you can always count on its signature meatloaf and garlic mashed potatoes. We like the paper-thin carpaccio of tuna, the duck salad on crisp Asian noodles, and a bundle of smoky salmon-filled wontons---and lots more. If it’s autumn, you’ll probably find a sweet potato pancake jammed with fruits, nuts and---surprise---melted Brie. Portions are immense, which is a mark of generosity more than miscalculation. Here’s a restaurant with no culinary inhibitions, and likable to boot, if it is occasionally over-the-top.
