Corktree Cellars Wine Bar & Bistro Restaurant Review

: Quaint little Carpinteria is a beach town better known for burgers than wine bars, but proprietor Jessica Pintard’s adventurous foray brings an urban touch to a decidedly casual setting. The interior is hip and stylish with tightly packed tables, and local artwork adorns the walls. Eight different wine flights are offered and include local and international wines, and there’s a small beer list. If you like what you try, pick up a bottle to bring home. When it comes to food, charcuterie and artisan cheese plates and tapas are popular; full-size entrées range from roasted vegetable ratatouille to a flat-iron steak with truffle Parmesan, arugula and chimichurri. Clever small plates propose the likes of lobster and white truffle macaroni and cheese. Char-grilled heart of romaine salad puts an interesting twist on traditional raw salads. And if you just can't get out of Carp without having a burger, Corktree uses California Kobe-style beef to make specialty burgers served with house-made chips and french fries. Dessert standouts include house-made donuts and salted caramel pudding.
