Così styles itself after an intimate French café not only in its ambience but also in its handcrafted hot and cold sandwich offerings, served on salt-dusted flatbread. Now with more than 100 locations worldwide, the Così chain actually began life as XandO in the Hartford area. Morning, noon and night, an open-flame stone oven turns out warm and toasty menu favorites like smoky barbecue chicken flatbread pizza, a pesto chicken melt and made-to-order omelets on Squagels (square bagels). We return again and again for sandwiches like the TBM (tomato, basil and fresh mozzarella) and the zesty Buffalo Bleu. Coffee drinks are made fresh, and the WiFi-equipped seating area with comfortable couches and plush chairs creates a casual coffeehouse vibe that makes diners feel at home. Whether you're on a first date or treating your family, build-your-own s'mores for two or four are a fun, sweet treat.
