: The restaurant’s claim to fame is its location alongside the Forbidden City’s moat, a magical sight at night with bats sky-diving, locals fishing and the Imperial red walls of the palace as a backdrop. But unless you’re seated at one of the three window seats you won’t get much of a view. The cooking presents some curious combinations: steak with anchovy jam, apricot-stuffed saddle of lamb. There’s also crispy-skin yellowtail sitting atop juicy smoked eggplant. Desserts include lavender crème caramel and chocolate and peanut opera cake. The wine selection draws primarily from the Old World. |
