The Crooked Duck Restaurant Review:

Equipped with a name inspired by an amusing anecdote involving a water skier and a waterfowl, the restaurant comprises an intimate space and outdoor patio that capture the rustic essence of the lake houses owner Joey Rooney experienced as a youth. Despite the lack of room, Rooney and executive chef Hugo Altamirano maximize its effectiveness by creating hand-crafted takes on contemporary cuisine utilizing fresh ingredients from trusted purveyors. Start with an order of chicken wings slathered in house-made mango barbecue sauce, plump coconut prawns, or a bowl of five-spice duck chili. Sandwiches such as the French dip with roast beef are on point, as are straightforward comfort options of Icelandic cod and chips, and meatloaf with caramelized onions and gravy. Coconut cream pie served atop a layer of chocolate peanut butter truffle is a worthy meal-ender. Breakfast is a big deal, as locals gather daily to indulge in popular items like in-house-roasted corned beef hash and eggs, the duck chili and Jack cheese omelet, or the Kentucky biscuit and egg with grilled ham and country sausage gravy. At 11 a.m., they'll ring a bell to let you know beer, wine and cocktails are ready to be served.
