Sited in a small and intimate space that once housed several different Asian eateries, this Bethesda hangout features the unique skills of chef David Craig, who has cooked at several hot DC restaurants, including Dupont Circle’s Pesce. Although he has earned kudos for his seafood and his noodle dishes, we’d like to think Craig has the salad theme down pat. He revises his limited menu regularly, but should you spot it, snap up his cornmeal-crusted oyster salad with bacon and Gorgonzola dressed with a sweetish balsamic mixture. One dessert that seems to be a mainstay is his chocolate bread pudding with caramel sauce, and as the name suggests, this is the utmost in decadence: the bread element tastes more like sinful brownie than anything else. If space is available, ask to sit in the back dining room. There with the large picture window on one wall you’ll get a ringside seat to watch the kitchen activity.
