DC-3 Gifts & Grill Restaurant Review:

DC-3 Gifts & Grill, also known as Buffalo Springs Station, is a casual, rustic spot to fuel up on food at the Catalina Airport. It’s not just a pit stop for pilots, though. Many visitors make the 10-mile trip from Avalon up to the "Airport in the Sky" to grab a meal and glimpse sightings of local wildlife such as foxes and buffalo. The dining room is located in the historic terminal, which dates back to the 1940s, and there is also a patio with picnic tables and a pleasant view of the mainland to enjoy. The breakfast and lunch menu includes breakfast burritos and scrambles, salads, sandwiches, burgers, hot dogs and tacos. Buffalo (bison) burgers and hot dogs are popular during the day, though unfortunately the meat is no longer locally sourced. DC-3 boasts about their buffalo jerky and “Killer Cookies” in varieties like chocolate chip oatmeal walnut. The gift shop offers souvenirs ranging from Catalina Island T-shirts and jewelry to buffalo plush toys.
