Delius Restaurant Restaurant Review:

This charming restaurant pops out among Signal Hill’s oil derricks and power grids with its pink, subtly mid-century modern exterior. The outside of the building is also festooned with planters hosting fresh herbs and vegetables, which executive chef Louise Solzman uses to craft a menu of contemporary, globally influenced cuisine. Inside, expect an old-school vibe brought about by dark woods, earthy banquettes and cozy lighting. Starters like the cherry-wood-smoked octopus with a potato-chorizo hash, smoky chipotle mac ‘n’ cheese, and duck confit with mole sauce and queso fresco demonstrate the kitchen’s appreciation for Latin flair. Mains straddle the line between classic and contemporary, as items like braised osso buco-style pork shank served with organic mushrooms, cherry tomatoes and braising jus share menu space with individual pizzas and pan-roasted salmon cooked in a red wine reduction and accompanied by banana peppers and Brussels sprouts. Sticky toffee pudding highlights the dessert menu. Groups can come in Wednesday through Saturday and enjoy a five-course dinner or a meal in the venue’s Wine Cellar, where they can watch the kitchen in action, while being surrounded by selections from the solid wine list. Patrons can swing by here for lunch and Sunday brunch, too.
