THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Demon Dogs Restaurant Review:
Theres nothing demonic about the hot dogs here---except that they keep you coming back. This spot has become a contender by serving up classic dogs, always steaming hot, always with the requisite crunch. Tucked under the El tracks near DePaul University, the place really jumps at lunchtime, in the early evening and sporadically throughout the afternoon, but nothing fazes the cheerful, efficient counter help. Students on break between classes, patrons of the library branch across the street and neighborhood regulars are privy to the fastest service around. However, if you want to dawdle over your dog, theres a jukebox loaded with the tunes of the band Chicago, once managed by owner Peter Schivarelli, plus photos, gold-album plaques and other rock memorabilia to peruse. The french fries are good; try the cheese fries if you need some added bulk. Polish sausage is a popular alternative to the hot dog.
