THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Drai's Restaurant Review:
Personable Hollywood film producer/restaurateur Victor Drai replicated in detail his late-great La Cienega Blvd. continental restaurant. The 350-seat eatery is divided into several rooms for cozier dining and for private parties. In some of them, the jungle-themed décor is fashioned with leopard-patterned couches, banquettes and china; others sport the lush green look of jungle landscaping. Among innovative starters are beignets of fresh calamari, tuna tartare with seven-flavors vinaigrette and a California artichoke with mustard dressing. Ravioli with Maine lobster is served as an appetizer and as an entrée. We like the sautéed fresh halibut meuniere with sautéed spaghetti of garlic zucchini. Steak tartare with mustard sauce and fries is served raw or seared. Go for the braised osso buco with fresh pasta. Save room for the velvety crème brûlée. Drai's plush After Hours Lounge, open from midnight to 8 a.m., offers a limited late-night menu on Fridays and Saturdays.
