![]() : This Asian-fusion mainstay, mere steps away from one of the city's primary shopping and hotel hubs, is a high-ceilinged, bamboo-accented, glam-casual getaway where the flavors of India (tamarind-glazed chicken wings, crudo on Himalayan salt blocks) meet those of China (wood-roasted char siu black cod, five-spice oxtail dumplings), Indonesia (beef rendang, nasi goreng), Thailand (green papaya salad), Vietnam (duck imperial rolls) and beyond. Buzzworthy local ingredients range from Meyer lemons to free-range chickens and Duroc pork. Chef Sharon Nahm, a veteran of Stars, Kuleto's and Lark Creek Walnut Creek, brings memories of her own Korean-American childhood to such standouts as zingy house-made kimchi and delightfully sticky, seductively sweet beef toppoki. Meat and seafood dominate E&O's menu, but vegetarians can revel in juicy, earthy Indonesian corn fritters, satay portobello mushrooms and creamy roasted eggplant. Mixologists offer an exotic array of classic and signature cocktails; the Black Pearl with Matusalem rum, coconut water, Velvet Falernum and crème de violet is a popular knockout. |
