El Tepayac Cafe Restaurant Review:
Burrito lovers make pilgrimages to East L.A.’s El Tepeyac, one of the city’s most legendary eateries. The menu lists many Mexican standards, most of which are good, as well as several hearty breakfast options. The specialty however is the restaurant's burritos --- huge beyond belief and stuffed full of goodies like machaca, chile verde, beans, rice, guacamole and much more. The Hollenbeck burrito (stewed pork, rice, beans, chili and guacamole) is named after the nearby L.A.P.D. station, but Manuel’s special is the true glutton's delight, with the bulk of diners unable to finish one. Menudo is available on the weekends. A word of caution: the salsa will set your mouth on fire.
