THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED El Zocalo Restaurant Review:
This unpretentious restaurant---with its fake-leather booths crammed into a narrow, deep room---is undoubtedly one of the few places in the Bay Area where you can get a decent whole steamed or fried red snapper at 2 a.m. If you aren't in a mood for fish, go for the Bonanza, top sirloin served with Salvadoran sausage, beans, rice and salad. A must-try is the plate of Salvadoran pupusas, grilled patties of fresh cornmeal batter filled with a choice of stuffing---chicken, beef, cheese, pork, beans or loroco flower---served with curtido, a spicy cabbage salad.
