Eureka! Restaurant Review:
We like tradition as much as anyone else, so when Le St. Germain closed its doors after nearly a quarter of a century we mourned along with everyone else. That is until Eureka! arrived. This chainlet of gastropubs has contemporary Edison-style lighting, communal tables, and a collection of taps and whiskey bottles prominently displayed behind the bar. The menu features starters, salads, sandwiches and seafood. Burgers, made from 100 percent vegetarian-fed and hormone-free beef, are definitely Eureka’s! calling card. Selections include the jalapeño egg burger dressed with a fried egg, cheddar, bacon, jalapeños and spicy chipotle sauce; and the Fresno fig burger offering a combination of fig marmalade, melted goat cheese and bacon with a schmear of spicy porter mustard. The house side salad is a bargain, with dried cranberries and blue cheese crumbles. Non-burger fans can enjoy lollipop corn dogs, osso buco riblets or fish tacos. Finish the meal with the butterscotch rum pudding, with whipped cream, sea salt and caramel.
