If it's a genuine piece of old London you're after, this is the place to go. The décor is authentic---green-and-white tiles, marble-topped tables and benches---but luckily the food is old-fashioned enough to keep the trendy crowd at bay. Try eels with mash for authenticity, or stick to the topnotch pies which at around £2 with mash, are some of London's great bargains.
