THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Faryab Restaurant Review:
This rather tame Afghan eatery seems to mute or omit hot flavors with sugar added to sweeten things up a bit. Take the chalow kadu, a dish of stewed pumpkin served with rice that is so sweet that it could work well as dessert; it even has a sprinkling of cinnamon. Vegetarians will do well eating here, as much of the menu is devoted to meatless dishes. Other options include a bowl of aush (a vegetable and noodle soup topped with yogurt and a meat sauce) and a flavorful ground beef kebob with rice. Portions are small, so don't hesitate to pair several dishes together. And for an interesting dessert, try Faryab's version of elephant ears,---shaped like an ear, deep-fried, and dusted with cardamom and crushed pistachios.
