THE FIRESIDE IS TEMPORARILY CLOSED. For more than 50 years, the stalwart burgers and avocado barons of Escondido have repaired to The Fireside for respectable cocktails, amiable service and all-American cuts of prime red meat including top sirloin, filet mignon stuffed with blue cheese and prime rib roasted just the way you like it. This is very much the place to start with a salad with blue cheese dressing or with an onion blossom, a large, sweet onion that is cut into a flower shape, dredged in crumbs and fried to a golden brown, and then to enjoy a baked potato with all the fixings alongside a good, rare steak. On the other hand, the restaurant offers seafood and a number of house pasta creations.
