Diners and drinkers come to Flash’s for the retro-chic atmosphere and a cocktail list with roots --- this place was pouring old-fashioneds, Manhattans and the like before they were new again. A special drink for those in the know is the pigshake cocktail: bacon, vanilla ice cream, Captain Morgan spiced rum, molasses, maple syrup and bacon lard. The eight-ounce burger is one of the best sellers and is served on a toasted bun with lettuce and onion. We like the sandwich with chicken salad mixed with golden raisins, Granny Smith apples, red onion and celery. The casual comfort food menu also features baked mac ‘n’ cheese, chicken potpie, a meatloaf sandwich and bratwurst. French fries can be tossed with garlic, thyme and lemon or topped with turkey chili and cheese sauce (also available as an appetizer).
