Located in the Crowne Plaza Washington Hotel downtown on the corner of 14th and K, this busy meet-and-greet place is convenient for lunchtime business meetings and thus gets very crowded. The menu is conventionally American with few flights of fancy---it zeros in on homey foods such as meatloaf with mashed potatoes and grilled Black Angus rib-eye, also with mashed potatoes. There’s a buffet at lunch, with soups, salads, carved items and assorted chef-chosen main dishes. If you’re short of time, select one of the sandwiches (the grilled peppered chicken breast is a good bet) or a fast salads such as the sliced flank steak Caesar salad, a big favorite. The breakfast buffet offers scrambled eggs, sausage, corned beef hash, fruit, cereals, juices, coffee and more.
