: Reliable, creative American cooking, easy-to-swallow prices, and available tables make Giorgio's of Gramercy a perennial best-kept secret. The exterior makes it seem a bit swankier than it actually is, though it would be a loss to miss out on the Italian-American fusion dishes served here because of it. Start with one of the delightful salads like chickpeas and avocado with red peppers, jalapeño, cilantro, lime juice and either grilled shrimp or scallops. Among the entrées, we recommend the baked macaroni and cheese with Fontina, smoked cheddar and Asiago; the seared big eye tuna with beet-barley risotto, braised kale, balsamic onions and lemon vinaigrette; or the seared duck breast with black truffle mashed potatoes, braised red cabbage and goat cheese-cranberry sauce. |
