Gotham Steakhouse & Cocktail Bar Restaurant Review:

This New York-inspired steakhouse revels in meat in all its forms, from roasted Alberta prime rib of beef to double-cut lamb and pork chops. The dramatic Art Deco high-ceilinged room with sweeping murals, original art and muted lighting is the creation of David Aisenstat, Canada’s king of steakhouses. On the dining side, the 28-day aged Prime is presented with a focus on simplicity and quality; plates are never overly “fussed” with. Steak prices start modestly for the steak shish kebab and climb to significant numbers for a bone-in rib steak. Traditional sides, such as Lyonnaise potatoes, grilled beefsteak tomatoes and creamed spinach, are as plentiful as the marbling is on the rib-eye steaks. Dessert features classics like baked American cheesecake, Belgian chocolate bourbon cake and Key lime pie. Aside from a gem-studded Champagne selection, the wine list has plenty of by-the-glass options, prime BC vintages and a masterful list of California steak-worthy reds. Opulent private rooms, an expansive patio with a fireplace, and a luxurious cocktail bar --- for some of the best people-watching in Vancouver --- attract local carnivores, sports stars and Hollywood celebs alike. Service is professional and unobtrusive.
