THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Guy Fieri's Chophouse Restaurant Review:
As steakhouses go, and there are plenty in this gambling Mecca, Guy Fieri’s Chophouse is certainly distinctive. The interior boasts a view of Atlantic City, dark wood and leather design points, comfortable seating and a lively bar. Refinement is not what Fieri is about, but big, bold flavors are, so expect to savor gargantuan cuts like the java-rubbed rib chop with mole butter or the hefty Parmesan-crusted butterfish served with sautéed spinach and a white bean ragù. Some of the unique offerings include IPA-poached whole Maine lobster; wood-grilled Bad Boy steak burgers made with aged sirloin, chuck and brisket with bacon mac ‘n’ cheese; and potbelly sliders, their pork belly slow cooked then glazed with an orange-chipotle mix. There are sushi and pastas in profusion. The “potato rig” steals the show: giant Idaho potatoes weighing in at a pound each are sea salt-brined before baking, then loaded with any number of toppings from a rolling cart. Expect lots of New Jersey touches with local, seasonal produce and fish. Desserts are of the same caliber as the savory selections. Seven layer “Jack Daniel’s” chocolate cake is served with whiskey anglaise, and a rich dark chocolate on the side. Wines are pricey but well suited to the fare.
