Harwood Grill features Akaushi beef from Texas-based HeartBrand Ranch, one of just a few American farms that raise the Japanese breed. The dry-aged meat is beautifully marbled, lightly salted and peppered, rubbed with garlic and seared at a high temperature. The comfortable dining room is furnished with murals of the ranch and a to-go meat case by the entrance; there's also a small bar, two private dining rooms and a lovely outdoor patio. For dinner, start with the lobster bisque, a rich rendition that's topped with tail meat. Entrées include a few (very few) seafood and chicken options; however, the reason to dine here is clearly the beef, be it a six-ounce filet or a 32-ounce porterhouse. There are sauces on the side, but this is beef that shines on its own. We might accompany our choice with the crunchy fries or mashed potatoes. When it comes to wine, try the 2013 Laurent Tribut Burgundy, a white that more than stands up to the steak. For lunch, don't pass up the two-hander chef’s burger with grilled onions and aged cheddar on a challah bun. Go for the warm bread pudding to finish the meal.
