Havana Mania Restaurant Review:
You’d think a place called Havana Mania would be wild. And it is, especially from Friday through Monday nights, when Cuban musicians fill the spacious restaurant with infectious rhythms. Start off with a mojito, a refreshing blend of mint, sugar, club soda and rum. Teetotalers can choose a creamy tropical batido --- a fruit shake in flavors like mango and guanabana. Portions are enormous, but we still suggest ordering a side of addictive yucca fries. Although Havana Mania offers a large selection of chicken, beef and seafood dishes, the garlicky roast pork is hard to beat. On Tuesday nights, owner Luis Montesdeoca roasts a 100-pound pig. Most entrées are served with a mountain of white rice, black beans and sweet, caramelized plantains. For dessert, there’s flan and tres leches cake.
