THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Hollywood East Cafe Restaurant Review:
Certainly one of the area's hottest Chinese restaurants, this humble Wheaton eatery has won its devoted following by sticking to Hong Kong-style dishes and keeping the setting as low-profile as possible. The kitchen staff leans to such exotica as fried tofu cooked with the braised hearts of bamboo stalks. As in many traditional Chinese restaurants, the chef posts the specials on red paper strips---if you can't translate, ask about the jumbo prawns cooked in a red wine sauce, sautéed spinach with triple eggs (egg, salted egg and thousand-year-old egg) and a spicy clam casserole with scallions. Clearly successful, this restaurant has nearly doubled its space, a lucky break for the many fans who would otherwise have to wait for tables.
