Reasonably inexpensive versions of comfort food dishes such as steak and fries, roast chicken and wine-braised pot roast.

THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Home Restaurant Review:
Prominently situated on a busy corner of Upper Market, Home is a casual spot that often teems with Castro locals. The menu features comfort food dishes such as steak and fries with red wine butter sauce, roast chicken and wine-braised pot roast with potato purée. Once known for better-than-average classics such as macaroni and cheese, Home has slipped a bit in recent years and lost some of the love evident in its dishes in the early 2000's, although chef Tricia Tracey may give the restaurant a shot in the arm. Desserts remain enticing, including seasonal sweets such as warm blueberry crumble or the rich banana bread pudding. The wine list offers reasonably priced California and French bottles. A backyard bar off the dining room is a lively meeting place for drinks or dining by the fireplace. Look for happy hour and early bird specials.
