THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Honey Restaurant Review:

The Meatpacking District has no shortage of bustling nightclubs and cavernous restaurants, but cozier spots are few and far between. Helmed by nightlife impresario Matt Shendell of Dip and Shampu, Honey aims to fill that niche. Long leather banquettes and low tables line the narrow space, with the restaurant’s private rooms in the back. The menu is a mishmash of comfort food from different locales, and innovation occasionally outpaces flavor. The quinoa-crusted chicken fingers are rescued by the blackberry sauce that accompanies them; the chicken Cordon Bleu re-imagined as a sushi roll, on the other hand, is clever and satisfying. Entrées are less frenzied in their attempts to cover a lot of ground. Kobe beef, scallops and duck confit over paella---listed as land, sea and air on the menu---meld together exceedingly well, and the salmon with curry on a bed of spaghetti is juicy without being over-spiced. It all adds up to a restaurant that is more pleasant than it appears; it's one of the area’s few examples of substance triumphing over style.
