THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Il Bico Restaurant Review:

Kenmore Square has long been a beehive of activity with nothing to eat but bad curry and fast food. That was the past. Hotel Commonwealth has since opened up and brought with it the high-end seafooder, Great Bay. And now the youthful team behind Bomboa---Fellino Samson, the chef, Kasey Anton and Carlos Hidalgo, owner-managers----have taken over a small trattoria named Il Bico. One has to assume they have an eye on what is an untapped market. They’ve done little to change the place, and it is still small, warm, and with lots of hard materials to cause a clatter when and if it is full. The menu reads simply REAL FOOD REALLY SIMPLE REALLY, REALLY GOOD and most of that is true. This is an Italian-American trattoria to the bone, of the kind found in smaller neighborhoods and suburbs. Samson has filled the menu with well-prepared versions of fried calamari with zucchini and lemon and minestrone, but added a few roots-y flourishes such as Etruscan flatbread filled with Parma ham, salami and mozzarella. There’s also white pizza, chicken Marsala and one of the best bread puddings around. Take-out and delivery is available, but we have a feeling guests will be coming in to eat with frequency.
