: Meaning the “courtyard of the king,” Il Cortile del Re is aptly named for its location. From the outside the restaurant appears to be a tiny hole-in-the-wall. But step through the front door and you’ll find an Italian stone courtyard bedecked in ivy and full of romantic ambience. Large-scale black-and-white photographs adorn the walls of this sophisticated indoor wine bar. Carpaccio, marinated olives and first-rate cheese plates are fine starters, and a more traditional array of main dishes, including the signature wild boar, are served by a knowledgeable staff. The chicken saltimbocca and gnocchi are good bets if the wild boar is too wild for your taste. A substantial all-Italian wine list, sorted by region, includes more than a few dessert wines. |
