: This neighborhood storefront is dressed up with immaculate white-clothed tables and photos of Italian scenes on the walls. What most appeals about Il Tartufo, however, are the dishes that hail from Trastevere, the rustic section of Rome just across the Tiber River. The homemade matzo is impossible to stop eating, and the fried artichokes are as good as those at Piperno's, the famed restaurant at the Octavian Gate. Enjoy the friendly service and ambience, but bring cash --- they don't take plastic. Lunch is the best deal, with pasta specials starting at $9.95. And don't miss the tiramisu for dessert. |
