THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Isabella Restaurant Review:
You just might think youve ended up somewhere over the rainbow when you enter Isabella. White linen and rich brocade fabric provide a brilliant contrast to vividly painted walls in deep red, accented with Prussian blue and mustard hues. Tiles surround the wood-burning oven that occupies a prime spot between the dining room and the lively bar, where jazz ensembles frequently perform. Exceptional pizzas emerge from that outstanding oven. Pastas, and especially risotto, are consistently impressive as well. The serviceable osso buco, made from lamb shanks, is served over polenta with spinach, roasted peppers and rosemary demi-glace. We recommend the little tower of panzanella, a bread salad sculpted of garlicky croutons, diced tomatoes, cannellini beans and sparked with capers, red onion and fresh mint; the homemade ravioli in any of its guises; or veal saltimbocca, tender scallops overlaid with mozzarella in addition to the usual prosciutto and sage. Happy hour bargains on both cocktails and food merit a weekday stop.
