: Whether you come to carb-load before the Boston Marathon or indulge in basic Italian dishes, La Famiglia Giorgio's delivers. Start by sharing the massive platter of antipasti filled with slices of salami and chunks of provolone, or the garlicky sautéed mussels. Hearty portions of pasta (penne or linguine) are served in a variety of sauces including Alfredo, pesto, garlic and oil, marinara and sweet Marsala. You really can’t go wrong with any of the classics: chicken Parm; a heaping portion of the lasagna of the day or veal piccata; tender steak cacciatore with vegetables and hot peppers; spicy shrimp puttanesca. We like the La Famiglia Special, a combination of veal and chicken tossed with vegetables in a rich Alfredo pesto sauce served over pillowy tortellini. There are wine suggestions for many of the dishes. Dessert is limited to just a few offerings, including a cannoli. There are more authentic restaurants to be found in Boston's North End but you’d be hard pressed to find one that dishes out such plentiful mounds of noodles. |
