THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED La Maison Blanche Restaurant Review:
La Maison Blanche is not only a hotel on Shelter Island, it’s also home to a French brasserie-style restaurant with an atmosphere that will remind guests of the Côte d'Azur. Executive chef Charles Le Tous’s menu highlights local ingredients in such French classics as Long Island duck confit, New York strip steak frites and moules marinières. But first, consider appetizers like French onion soup, cheese and charcuterie platters and escargots. Burgers and spaghetti carbonara diverge from the Gallic theme, but their presence supports the cooking’s melding of old-world and new-world dishes. The wine list features a good range of French and Long Island wines, as well as a few South American bottles. By-the-glass selections are varied. Nutella millefeuille takes a traditional sweet and executes it with a twist, and the accompanying list of dessert wines includes a French muscat.
