La Mejor de Michoacan Restaurant Review:

This bright, lively Mexican ice cream parlor sports a whimsical and colorful décor. Families congregate for ice creams that may be purchased by the cup or cone and with or without toppings. Portions are substantial, with a single scoop supplying about a cup of ice cream. Lively tropical fruit flavors --- mango, strawberry, coconut, guava, pineapple, tamarind, lime --- appeal to the Hispanic culinary tradition, and they're homemade with real fruit. Curiosities include one called “chongos zamoranos,” translated as "milk candy." It's a custardy vanilla base blended with dobs of candy. "Fresa con queso" is strawberry with cheesecake, and the coffee flavor is particularly intense. In addition, the company makes popsicle treats out of both fruit-flavored milk and water, providing a good choice for the lactose intolerant or vegan. Savory dishes also are available, such as tortas (sandwiches). Four locations include three in Gainesville, Ga., and this one in the metro Atlanta area.
