THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED The Lanai Restaurant Review:
Owner-chef Doug Moric riffs on tastes of the islands at this charming Leucadia eatery --- a bamboo-accented food truck set on a patio with picnic tables and greenery. The fresh ruby ahi poke draws loyal fans, whether you prefer the more traditional version with soy, sesame oil, sweet onion, scallions, togarashi and Hawaiian salt over rice, or California-style, topped with nuggets of avocado. Loco Moco, a proven hangover remedy, features a burly beef patty, two fried eggs and a pool of onion gravy atop rice, while the Hawaiian Cuban marries Kalua pork and spam with Swiss cheese and pickles on a torpedo roll. Plate lunch here means tender teriyaki chicken skewers, piles of Kalua pork or fresh catch, plus macaroni salad, rice and bok choy kimchi. Sea life murals lend more color to the laid-back garden setting. It’s an idyllic little sanctuary for island eats.
