The Original Las Casuelas Restaurant Review:

This downtown Palm Springs restaurant evokes the feel of dining in some hacienda with its adobe-like design and Mexican bric-a-brac. The outdoor patio is bustling when the weather is nice and on Thursday evenings when VillageFest, the weekly street festival, takes place just a sombrero-toss away. Live music is often staged outdoors creating a festive place to graze. The small kitchen turns out respectable home-style Mexican cooking with an emphasis on such Cal-Mex standards as enchiladas, burritos, tostadas, tacos, tamales and taquitos. Steak and shrimp are on offer for those who somehow wind up here and don’t want Mexican. Top of the specialties is Maria’s spinach enchilada, named after the matriarch of the founding family. Service is super-friendly. Simple and inexpensive, this place has been a Palm Springs institution since Eisenhower was president.
