THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Le Clos Restaurant Review:
Located in the winery at Château Elan, the romantic and intimate Le Clos is the most formal of all seven restaurants at the complex. The two fixed-price menus include a three-course and a five-course option for $58 and $78, respectively. Dishes change frequently, but pumpkin ginger soup with vanilla-poached lobster or truffled spätzle with wild boar give you an idea of what the kitchen turns out. Diners can select an entrée from among several offered, but on our last visit we enjoyed the poussin roasted and served in a light broth with just-cooked vegetables and butternut squash gnocchi. Menu selections reflect the season and draw from local sources. As well, chef de cuisine Justin Kurtz has his own kitchen garden that grows fresh herbs. For dessert, let chef Kurtz make his ice cream tableside, a dramatic and tasty addendum to the cheesecake. The wine list focuses on the wines produced at Château Elan, although others are available, too.
