L'Epicureo was a standout among Providence's Federal Hill restaurants for a decade before it made a smooth transition to Downcity's boutique Hotel Providence. Like its home, the restaurant is a blend of chic and comfortable: elaborate crystal chandeliers dangle from an open-grid ceiling, and oversize, vaguely Pop Art reproductions of classic beauties stroked by Raphael, Botticelli and da Vinci smile down on diners. Meanwhile, chef Jason Dragonetti’s menu challenges the adventurous palate without ever straying too far into terra incognita. We always leave the table satisfied, not stuffed, with lingering memories of a cornucopia of flavors comprising a gourmet meal worthy of the name above the door.
